b. Age With Rights Global Rally

The Global Rally (Age With Rights Campaign) which took place from 27th February to 5th March 2023 was spearheaded by Global Alliance for the Rights of Older People (GAROP). GAROP in collaboration with civil societies and other distinguished organisations around the world embarked on aggressive campaign and calling for a United Nations Convention for older persons. Modern Thinkers Foundation hosted this global assignment in Ghana reminding the Government of Ghana to prioritise the drafting of a new UN Convention for the rights of older people and to make adequate preparations towards the 13th Session of the Open Ended Working Group at the United Nations in New York from 3rd to 6th April 2023. The overall objective of the 2023 Global Rally was to urge governments to participate actively in the UN Working Group meeting and support a new UN convention on the rights of older people.

c. Renovation of Serebuoso Classroom Block and provision of dual desks

In early 2022, rainstorms ripped off parts of the roof of the school building making it difficult for effective teaching and learning. Aside that, the school building was in a dilapidated condition having damaged floors, doors, windows, pillars and without desks. This became a challenge for several months thereby disturbing the academic progress of the school. With support from American people through the Ambassador’s Self-Help Program, the school was renovated in addition to the provision of dual-desks.

The event highlighted on the specificity of older persons around the world, for the enjoyment of their rights and in addressing violations, and how the strengthening of solidarity through equity and reciprocity between generations offers sustainable solutions to deliver on the promise of the Sustainable Development Goals. The objective of the programme was to increase global knowledge and awareness of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and generate commitments among all stakeholders to strengthen the protection of the human rights of current and future generations of older persons around the world
